According to historical writings, Székesfehérvár was the first town in the country, which was known as royal centre for centuries. The town has preserved this era with honour, as well as it is also proud of its baroque town centre, which fascinates you with plenty of places of interest and sights while strolling among its churches, museums and beautiful baroque palaces. Besides the founder St. Stephen and his son, Prince St. Imre, other fourteen Hungarian kings and their family members as well as a number of respectabilities rest within the walls of the mausoleum belonging to the Cathedral. Perhaps the most unique building is the Bory Castle. You can meet the great figures of Hungarian history – heroes, bards and kings from Chief Álmos to Tinódi Lantos (“Lutist”) Sebestyén – in the corridors of its hundred-column courtyard. The unparalleled richness of historical past mixes well with modern life in the town, since Székesfehérvár is the centre of the dynamically developing companies in the region.
